Francesca Cao was born in Norwich (GB) in 1981. She attended sociological and psychological studies in college and she completed her university degree in philosophy in 2005.
She worked as an assistant with the photoreporter Mauro Galligani for two years until 2006, when she left her hometown Milan to attend the photojournalism course at the International Center of photography in New York, where she for lived two years.
In 2008 she won the Tierney fellowship for her project about Oil business in Kazakhstan, which was exhibited in the ’09 New York Photo Festival, in the same year Francesca was selected in the Descubrimientos section of Photoespana and attended the Eddie Adams Workshop.
Among her clients are The New York Times, Zoom magazine, The Guardian Weekend, D magazine, Il Corriere della Sera and 24 magazine. She has displayed her work in Milan, Madrid, Valencia and New York. Francesca is now based in Milan and available for assignments.
